FAQs

WHAT DOES MY GYMNAST WEAR/BRING TO CLASS?

We encourage gymnast to wear a leotard to class. In the case your gymnast does not own a leotard please wear a pair of tight fitted bottoms such as leggings/shorts and a relatively tight t-shirt/crop/singlet. Please no buttons, stockings, zippers or denim.  We suggest bringing a jumper to class in the cooler months.

Hair will need to be tied back off the face and gymnast will go bare foot into the gym, all jewellery must be removed with the exception of small sleepers or studs.

Please bring along a water bottle to class.

DO YOU OFFER A TRIAL CLASS?

Yes! Your first class is always a trial, all you need to do is pay the trial fee (the same fee as a single class) via EFTPOS on the day of the class. We will ask you to complete some paperwork on the day of your trial. If your happy to continue after this class that is all you need to do! If we don't hear from you within 48hours our admin staff will go ahead and finalise your enrolment. If you decide our class isn’t for you, please let us know within 48 hours and no enrollment will occur.

ARE THE COACHES QUALIFIED?

All of the DGC staff are appropriately qualified and registered through Gymnastics Australia. We pride ourselves on our ongoing learning and coach development programs.

WHAT IF IT'S TOO HOT TO RUN CLASSES?

If the temperature is 35° or more at 3:30pm we will cancel classes. DGC staff will measure this from inside the gym as this is the most accurate gauge of temperature.

In the case of a cancelled class we will advise this at 3:30pm on Social Media, an email will also be sent to affected families.  If the temperature rises above 35° after 3:30pm we will still run classes and training will be modified to suit the conditions. If the temperature is 35° or above at 3:30pm but a cool change comes in and the temperature drops by 4pm classes will remain cancelled to avoid confusion morning classes will usually run regardless. There are exceptions to this rule, in these instances affected families will be notified. Please remember you’re your child’s best guide to attending session’s in extreme weather.

HOW CAN I ORDER UNIFORM?

DGC does sell our own training leotards, leggings, crops , hoodies, bags and more if you wish to purchase these. Items can be found in the shop on our website. Not all items are permanently open for order, some items are ordered once a term, order dates are communicated via email.

HOW DO I PAY MY TUITION FEES?

DGC operates on a direct debit system. Weekly debits operate 1 week in advance of classes.

HOW DOES MY GYMNAST MOVE THROUGH DGC'S PROGRAMS?

Each MiniGems class will have a twice a term assessment day where their progress will be assessed in a fun and relaxed environment. MiniGems will progress through the 3 stage (Bronze, Silver & Gold) program. Each stage will have skills that the individual gymnast must achieve in order to pass the level and receive their colour coded achievement sticker. Once gymnasts complete this program they will move onto the GemStar program.

Each recreational GemStar class Level 2-10 will have a low key once a term assessment day with the emphasis of having fun and doing their best. They will receive a simplified online report that can be viewed in the customer portal. This allows for both gymnast and Parent/Guardian/s to recognise their personal achievements. Once gymnasts pass each skill at the level they will be moved up in the following year.

DOES MY GYMNAST HAVE TO DO COMPETITIONS?

Optional competitions are open to all GemStar gymnasts. These dates are selected by DGC staff and communicated via email. Families can book via the parent portal.

Squad gymnasts will have compulsory competitions set at the beginning of each year.

HOW DO I BOOK IN FOR A CLASS?

Get in touch with us via our website links, phone or email! Many of our classes do have waitlists. Please click the book a trial button on our website or contact our office with the information found on our contact page for more information regarding vacancies.

DO I HAVE TO STAY TO DURING CLASSES?

Not at all! We do ask you to walk your gymnast into the building and collect your gymnast from the waiting room.

DO YOU OFFER MAKE UP CLASSES?

Gymnasts can receive make up classes (up to 10 per year) when recording an expected absence through the parent portal.

To record a future absence for any reason and receive your make up token for later use please log in to the customer portal. Click My Account and then Future absences. When a future absence is recorded up to 2 hours before a class, a makeup token is automatically placed on your account (these expire after 90 days). We encourage you to record the absence as soon as possible as this allows us to offer other gymnast the chance to do a make up session while your gymnast is absent. We also encourage you to record absences in the portal even inside the 2 hour window as this assists us with correct class planning etc.

Please note make up classes can only be booked via email to the office- please email with your gymnast full name, current class, and day availability. We are currently exploring options for families to be able to book their own make up classes via the parent portal.
